 After almost 44 years, this is KCC's first-ever totally online held Photo Challenge.

Recording started a few seconds late, missing the first entry "My Safe Place" by Ruth Casal. Learning from our mistakes we will improve at the next event.

 August 09, 2019 -OPEN
Anything goes, open up your imagination and creativity.


September 12, 2019 - LETTERS AND/OR NUMBERS
Anything having letters and/ or numbers, including, but not limited to: signs, art, architecture, structures or anything in nature that resembles letters or numbers. Avoid just photographing close-ups of a letter or a number. Try to show a sense of placement in your photo.

 October 10, 2019 - GLASS
Any kind of glass whether it be whole, cracked or broken; by itself or as part of a structure, instrument, or device, or an entity in and of itself made of glass.

 November 14, 2019 - RUST
Find something rusty (a hinge, a fence, vehicles, tools or anything else).
Use your ingenuity to make it interesting. Work out your composition.

December 12, 2019 - OPEN
Anything goes, open up your imagination and creativity.

January 9, 2020 - PLACES OF WORSHIP
A specially designed structure or consecrated space where individuals or a group of people such as a congregation come to perform acts of devotion, veneration, or religious study. Temples, churches, synagogues, and mosques are examples of structures created for worship.

 February 13, 2020 - MACRO
A close-up photograph of any small subject where the size of the subject in the photograph is greater than its actual life-size.
Subjects may include the human body, plants, flowers, insects, etc.

March 12, 2020 - PORTRAITS
A photograph of a person or group of people or a photograph of an animal that captures the personality of the subject by using effective lighting, backdrops, background and poses. You can control the direction of light by using a flash, studio lights or a window light.

 April 9, 2020 - MONOCHROME OPEN
Produce a photograph of any subject, developed or executed in black and white or in varying tones of only one color.

May 14, 2020 - TREES AND/OR FLOWERS
Produce a photograph of a tree(s) or a flower(s).
The tree(s) or flower(s) does not have to be the main subject, but must be a prominent element of the photo.

June 11, 2020 - CENTERED
Break the rule of thirds. Create a strong composition by placing the subject in the center of the photograph.

July 9, 2020 - PATTERNS
Take a photograph utilizing elements that are repeated. The repetition of lines, shapes, tones or color can create interesting images. The pattern can be the main subject of an image or the patterns can be used to enhance the overall composition. Patterns are all around us, in nature, or man-made.

  • September 10, 2020 - Fruits and/or Vegetables

    They can be still-life or the focus of the scene which includes people.  Raw or cooked.  Just make them interesting.

  • October 8, 2020 – Junk

    Things that are old, discarded, meaningless or cheap can make an interesting image.  Junkyards, dumps, and other things often have junk.

  • November 12, 2020 - High/Low Angles

    Let your camera look up or down.  Upward can make the subject seem grand, and downward can make it look vulnerable or insignificant.

  • December 17, 2020 - Monochrome Open

    Which color doesn’t matter, but there can only be shades of one in the image.  Examples are black and white (that’s two but they are not really colors), and sepia.  But any color will work.

  • January 14, 2021 - Structures

    Man-made things. Examples are buildings, bridges, docks.

  • FEBRUARY 11, 2021 - Urban Life

    An image that is taken in the confines of a built-up area.  Can be architecture, the streets or the interaction between people and their environment.

  • MarCH 11, 2021 - Color Contrast

    Contrast is determined by the difference in the color and brightness of the object and other objects in the same field of view.

  • AprIL 08, 2021 - Open

    Anything goes!

  • May 13, 2021 - Reflections

    Use reflective surfaces to create and artistic echo of a scene.  Examples of reflective surfaces are mirrors, oceans, lakes, puddles and even rain drops.

  • June 10, 2021 - People

    A person or persons.  Make it special.  Examples are portraits, photojournalism, landscapes and street photography including a person or persons.

  • JULY 08, 2021 - Movement

    Make something create the impression of movement, either of the subject or the camera.

    Anything goes, as long as it is your work. Open up your imagination and creativity.

  • September 09, 2021 - Beginnings

    For this theme take photographs of anything that you think represents “Beginnings“. Photograph a subject that makes the viewer think of the beginning of something.  Examples:  the beginning of the year, a race, a day, a night, a newborn baby, newborns in nature, like animals and plants. New infrastructure like construction, roads, etc.

  • October 14, 2021 – Collections

    Things that people collect.  Examples are sports memorabilia, beanie babies. Things collecting dust would NOT be an example.  Make the arrangement interesting and creative

  • November 11, 2021 - Straight out of Camera

    Take a shot in jpg. No post processing editing is permitted. That means no cropping or any other changes to the image are permitted after the shot. Custom in camera settings and lens efects are allowed when applied in camera before taking the shot.

  • December 9, 2021 - Minimalistic

    Sometimes less is more.  Create a shot using simple elements with little embellishment.
